Bed Bug Bites Pictures, Symptoms and Treatment

Information about bed bugs bites, pictures of what do bed bug bites look like, how to check if you have been bitten by bed bugs and advice on how to stop the itch.

Bed bugs bite their hosts by using their sharp beak to pierce the skin and inject their saliva. Like mosquitoes, their saliva contains an anticoagulant (to prevent coagulation of the blood) as they suck and also acts as an anesthetic agent to prevent the victim from feeling the bite. Therefore, while sleeping, humans rarely feel any sensations of being bitten, but will only realize the day after.

Nymphs (young bed bugs) take about three minutes to feed, while a full-grown bug feeds for ten to fifteen minutes. After feeding, they then crawl back to the nearest crevice to digest.

MOBILE BED BUG TREATMENT | Green Heat Purification – Bed Bugs Heat …

Many people find themselves in a dilemma. How do I move if I have bed bugs? Green Heat Purification has the solution! We have a mobile bed bug heat treatment trailer. How do you kill bed bugs while moving? We pick up your furniture in our Green Heat mobile bed bug trailer, and bring your belongings to our treatment facility. We treat your furniture over night, and return your belongings the following day.

In fact, this is the procedure that Manitoba Housing uses, and has been following this procedure for all Winnipeg inter-city moves for the past 2 years. This is one of the reasons why Manitobas fight against bed bugs has been so successful.

There are a few steps that will help make this procedure work. First, we arrange a time and a location to drop off our mobile bed bug heat treatment trailer. Our trailer is 25 feet long, so we need to arrange a time when we can legally leave the trailer on your street. At times, some streets have no stopping between certain hours. Unless you have a large driveway, we will need to work around the city by-laws. We leave the trailer with you as long as you need to move your furniture into the trailer. Since our trailer is 25 feet long, we can fit a large amount of furniture, however this will not be sufficient for a very large 4 bedroom home with a complete set of furniture for each room. If you have a large home, you will need to book two evening treatments to successfully remove your bed bugs. Next, we haul the trailer to our Green Heat storage facility, and connect our Heat Assault heat machine to the trailer and heat your furniture to 140 Degrees for 8-10 hours, overnight. Finally, we deliver your furniture to the location of your choice.

In order to make this procedure successful, we charge three separate fees. The first fee is for the heat treatment itself. Our mobile heat treatment is $750, as a flat rate. All mobile bed bug heat treatments incur the same flat rate heat cost. We also charge a per kilometer fee. We charge $1/KM haul fee. This haul fee is calculated from your location to our heat treatment facility. Therefore, if you live in Toronto, the distance is roughly 50 KMs to our mobile heat treatment facility. Finally, we charge an hourly load/unload fee. We charge $25 per hr for our load/unload fee. Therefore, if you require our trailer to be parked at your location for 3 hours, we will charge $75 for the load, and $75 for the unload. A typical Toronto mobile bed bug heat treatment will on average cost $1100.

There is no better solution to moving with bed bugs. Call us for more information, and book well in advance, as we are extremely busy, especially during moving season. A $250 deposit will be required in order to book our mobile heat treatment.

Province of Manitoba | What You Should Know About Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are not a health hazard but they can create a lot of stress. Learn how you can protect yourself and help stop the spread of bed bugs.

Bed bugs are small, brown insects - about the size of an apple seed at adult stage - that feed on human blood. After a feeding, they swell in size and can become bright or dark red. They are wingless and cannot fly or jump. They hide during the day and come out at night in areas where people sleep.

There is no evidence bed bugs spread diseases to humans. Reactions to bites range from no reaction at all, to itchy red bumps. If a bed bug is disturbed during feeding, they may bite more than once in the same general area. The bites are painless but may become itchy after a day or two. Scratching at the bites may cause an infection. Many people get anxious and distressed when exposed to bed bugs.

There are three stages in the life of a bed bug: eggs, nymphs(or juveniles) and adults. The eggs have a coating that helps them stick to objects and they usually hatch in six to 17 days. Hatched nymphs start to feed right away. Adult bed bugs can live for more than 12 months, depending on the location or conditions and can become inactive when there is no host to feed on.

Having bed bugs does not mean your home isn't clean. They enter your home on items you carry in from outside. The most common items are mattresses, box springs, upholstered furniture, luggage, electronics, books, pictures and household goods. A sign you have bed bugs is finding (on your mattress, box spring, pillow, etc):

If there is a lot of bed bugs, a musty or sweet odour, like coriander, may be present.

The best way to deal with bed bugs is to avoid bringing them into your home.

Bed Bug Heat Treatment Process | Heat-N-Go Bed Bug Extermination

Killing bed bugs with heat is not a new concept. Heat has been used for pest control dating back to 1762 in France.

Thermal Remediation is the most thorough and comprehensive method of eradicating bed bugs proving lethal at all stages of the bed bugs life cycle. This revolutionary, eco-friendly process to treat beg bug infestations with heat is the most cost-effective and least disruptive treatment option, saving your mattress, your furniture, your time and your money.

Most bed bug chemical treatments are extremely tedious and typically require multiple visits. Studies have shown that bed bugs may be growing increasingly insecticide resistant, due to excessive use. (There are fewer treatment alternatives as regulatory restrictions have diminished many of the chemical options.)

Bed bugs are attracted to body heat and heat sources.

Rather than trying to escape, they are attracted to the heat and emerge from hiding to come out to the heat source. The heating happens quickly so that the bugs have no time to escape, and the temperature is controlled and maintained until every last bed bug is dead. Heat-N-Go uses industrial electric heaters and convection fans to heat the infected spaces.

The key to an effective heat treatment is the correct balance of temperature, timing, humidity levels, and monitoring. A typical treatment may take about 6 to 8 hours to complete.

Complete heat monitoring system to ensure the right balance of heat is attained and maintained utilizing sensors and attaining computer printouts.

Before Heat-N-Go, heats your residence we provide you with a checklist of items to be removed beforehand and we do an inspection before the heating begins.

Pets and aerosol cans, for example, should be removed from the residence before a treatment. Your electronics, the contents of your refrigerator and your furniture may all safely remain in the house.

The preparation instructions will provide you with a list of items that can and cannot remain in the treatment area. Our goal is to eliminate the bed bug and its eggs. The goal is more likely to be reached if preparation instructions are followed as specified.
