Woman walks in on burglar

A burglar said, Go ahead and call police, as he pushed his way past a homeowner that walked in on him Sunday on Calhoun Street near St. Alphonsus Church.

The woman, age 45, arrived home about 5 p.m. and was surprised to find one of her bowling balls sitting in the middle of the floor. As she continued walking through the house she noticed more things out of place. Eventually she made it to her guest bedroom where she was met by the burglar.

With a bowling ball bag in hand, the burglar pushed her out of the way and headed for the door. The woman yelled at him to drop the bag, but he was undeterred and kept running. He was last seen running through the church parking lot toward Schaefer Road.

Police said the culprit broken in through a basement window. He is described as a 17-year-old black male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and with a thin build. At the time he was wearing a t-shirt, hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Among the stolen items were camera equipment and jewelry. Some of the stolen jewelry was actually stolen during a previous burglary and it was still in the container she put it in after receiving it back from police.
