Bed bugs bite man in San Antonio motel
SAN ANTONIO A man staying in an East side motel last month had some unwanted guests.
Tony Sabbs said he was bitten by bed bugs on his second night of staying at Motel 6 San Antonio East on 138 N W.W. White Rd.
It felt like something was crawling on you, Sabbs said. I felt something stinging my arm, slapped it, and saw another on the bed.
After snapping a few photos (above), Sabbs alerted two housekeepers and the front desk, who notified him they would call an exterminator.
Our staff works diligently to check for signs of bed bugs regularly, and we have procedures for handling suspected and reported bed bug cases at Motel 6, said Raiza Rehkoff, spokeswoman for the company. Motel 6 staff followed protocol precisely by immediately shutting down the room in question. The room was taken out service, inspected and treated.
Rehkoff said the room, number 237, was reinstated for service March 31 after it was treated.
In addition, the guest requested and was issued a refund, she said. Please know that the hotel industry is on high alert regarding bed bugs, and we are diligent in monitoring our rooms in order to address, treat and terminate any issues that have been raised to our attention.

Bed Bugs Shut Down Summit County Welfare Office, My Cleaning Products Recommends a Bed Bug Spray to Help Residents …
Akron, OH (PRWEB) April 10, 2014
Because of bed bugs, a welfare building in Summit County in Ohio was closed down. A post from ohio.com relayed the news on April 08, 2014. In response to it, My Cleaning Products recommended a bed bug spray to help the residents protect their houses from the possible spread and infestation of the vampire-like pests.
Based on the report, the critters were particularly found at the Sojourner Truth Building. However, it added that the county's Job and Family Services Director, Patricia Divoky, denied that the office was infested.
In the report, Divoky clarified that only two bed bugs were found at the building. She detailed that they were seen at the waiting area of the office with the alive bed bud seen crawling on the wall. The dead one, she further relayed, was spotted shortly after.
Following the discovery of the crawlies, the post related that the welfare building was shut down at 12:30 pm. As it stated, the closure was for the spray treatment to eliminate them.
Below is an excerpt from the post Bed Bugs Found in Summit County Welfare Building by My Cleaning Products.
Bed bugs found a way into one of Summit County's welfare building. And as a result, the office was shut down to give way to the spray treatment.
The pesky insects were discovered on Tuesday. They were seen specifically at the waiting area of the Sojourner Truth Building located at 37 N. High Street. Following that, the county issued a release and the office was closed around 12:30 pm.
With the prevalence of bed bugs, such a news of them spotted in an office is not surprising anymore, said My Cleaning Products. However, it stressed that it is still troubling and must be taken as a warning. As it cited, that's because it means those critters continue to spread wider and anyone could be their next victim.
But despite their prevalence and the fact that they are sneaky, the infestation of those critters could still be prevented, said MCP. To do it, it stated that one would need the help of a prepared bed bug spray. The ready product, it explained, would enable to kill bed bugs promptly and stop them from causing worse problems.

Philly Fights Bed Bugs With New Mattress Policy, My Cleaning Products Recommends a Bed Bug Spray to Help Control Their …
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) April 08, 2014
Philadelphia has implemented a new policy in an effort to control the spread of bed bugs. A post from newsworks.org relayed the details of it on April 07, 2014. And wanting to also help the residents in controlling the spread of the critters, My Cleaning Products suggested a pesticide-exempt bed bug spray.
Based on the post, the new rule is particularly about the disposal of mattresses and box springs. It detailed that it was patterned in an NYC policy and took effect in February.
The law, relayed the report, specifically requires the residents to seal the mattress and box spring with a protective wrap before trashing them for pick up. Its purpose is to protect the neighborhood and the garbage collector from direct contact with the pesky creatures, it stated.
However, resident Vivian Van Story said that the policy doesn't work, shared the report. Meanwhile, others as Andrew Dalzell, with the South of South Street Neighborhood Association, said that an adjustment period is necessary for it to work, it relayed.
Here is an excerpt from the post Philadelphia Implement New Policy Against Bed Bugs by My Cleaning Products.
It can't be denied that bed bugs are even more prevalent these days than few years ago. And so, in an effort to curb their spread, Philadelphia implemented a new policy regarding the disposal of bed-bug-infested mattresses.
The city patterned the policy from NYC. It particularly requires the residents to seal the mattress and the box spring in a protective bag before trashing them for pick-up. The purpose of it is to protect the neighborhood and the garbage collectors from direct contact with the critters.
My Cleaning Products said that by just what they are called, it is easy to say that bed bugs love to invade beds. And given that, it commented that Philadelphia's new policy is indeed a big help in controlling their spread.
However, MCP said that apart from mattresses, those crawlies could infest anything that keeps them closer to their prey, which usually are human beings. Because of that, it asserted that it is essential for everyone to prepare a bed bug spray.

bed bugs – The Manitoba Teachers’ Society
By Matea Tuhtar
With bed bug wars being waged elsewhere, Manitoba schools are turning their attention to remaining bug-free.
Even though classroom infestations are rate, schools in the U.S. and Canada have reported finding bed bugs on school properties and some Manitoba schools have had close calls.
Jamie Krutkevich, president of the Seven Oaks Teachers Association says her division has had instances of kids coming to school with bites on them, as well as a teacher getting bitten at a popular camp while on a school trip.
A lot has to happen for a child to bring home a bed bug from school but its entirely possible, especially if you have more than one infestation in a school, says Krutkevich, adding that kids should never be sent home due to bed bugs, unless repeated efforts have been made to remedy the situation.
With lots of classrooms around the province filled to capacity, the possibility of cross-contamination from personal belongings is always present. Bringing in old couches and furniture into classrooms also increases the risk of infestation.
Krutkevich says her school division is taking proactive measures to keep infestation down to a minimum.
Seven Oaks has put forward money for schools to replace their fabric furniture with leather or vinyl. Were treating it much the same way as lice, so if there is a case of bed bugs reported we try to keep backpacks and snowsuits outside the classroom, and wrap their books and agendas in a plastic bag.
While bed bugs dont spread disease, they feed on human blood and are considered a nuisance.
There is a wide variety of skin reactions to bed bug bites, from no reaction at all to small welts that are painless but may itch. Scratching at a bite is the same as scratching at a mosquito bite, and should be avoided as much as possible as infection can occur, says Michael Routledge, medical officer of health with Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
