A trip of Leadville middle schoolers ended up causing parents some major concern. And according to a report from chaffeecountytime.com dated April 25, 2014, it was because of the pesky bed bugs. In response to it, My Cleaning Products recommended a bed bug spray in order to help prevent their spread in houses.

As said in the report, it was during the trip of the eighth-graders of the Lake County Middle School to the Keystone Science School when the bed bug encounter happened. It relayed that it took place in the cabin shared by four of the students.

However, Ellen Reid, the executive director of the science school, said that only one bed bug was found in the cabin, shared the post. And particularly, it detailed that it was discovered on April 16, when the students were preparing to get back to Leadville.

Following the discovery of the bug, the report shared that an exterminator came to the site within four hours. Nonetheless, based on it, parents still worry about the crawlies possible transfer to their houses.

It was supposed to be a trip just for the eighth-grade students of Lake County Middle School. However, bed bugs crashed it and left the kids with annoying bed bug bites.

The signs of the critters were found in the cabin where four of the students stayed on April 16 during their trip to during a trip to the Keystone Science School. They were discovered because of the bite marks the pests left on the students.

My Cleaning Products said that one of the reasons why bed bugs spread fast and wide is the fact that they are very good hitchhikers. They could travel far without being noticed by hiding on luggage and clothing.

That, it stated, puts everyone's home at risk of being infested next. As it reasoned, that's because anyone could now pick them up from anywhere and bring them home.

A homeless shelter in North Platte in Nebraska was rumored to have a bed bug problem. However, in a report from omaha.com, it was said that the critters were already cleared from the facility. Meanwhile, in order to help others kill bed bugs effectively and safely, My Cleaning Products advised the use of the pesticide-exempt Bed Bug Bully.

According to the report, which was published on April 24, 2014, the Executive Director of the facility, Beth DeFreece, confirmed on Wednesday that the critters were indeed found in the building. She detailed that they were sighted in one room in the women's dormitory.

However, she clarified in the post that it was already three weeks since it happened. She supplemented that they called in an exterminator to confirm the bugs and implement a treatment after it was reported. And with that, she cleared bed bugs was no longer a problem in the facility.

In addition to the treatment, the report relayed that the management implemented other precautionary steps. It relayed that they replaced the mattresses and mattress covers in the room and changed the metal-made furniture to wood.

Virginia Tech researchers trying to find way to get rid of bed bugs

This story could make you feel itchy all over.

Researchers who are trying to make them go away, but nothing seems to be working.

Bed bugs are just flat out ugly and gross. Like cockroaches, they won't go away.

"We've got bed bug problems all over the United States," said Dini Miller, of Virginia Tech urban pest management.

Inside the Dodson Urban Pest Management Lab at Virginia Tech, Miller teaches students how easily bed bugs can spread.

"There's lots of places for the bed bugs to hide, Miller said. They can move through the walls from one unit to another."

Across the hall, graduate student and lab tech Mark Petersen is breathing hard on a cup full of nasty bed bugs.

"I'm trying to get them excited so they can let go of the mesh screen. They react to CO2, Petersen said.

Using tweezers, Petersen is separating the male bed bugs from the females. Yes, he can tell the difference.

"I have felt that they're crawling around me sometimes even if I know they're not, Petersen said. You spend all day looking at them. It gets in your head."
