Washington DC - EZ Bed Bug Exterminator, a new pest control service whose aim is to offer integrated pest management to the residents of Washington DC, has just launched in a ceremony that was attended by more than 50 people. The goal of the service is to preserve the environment, protect pets and inhabitants of a home while ridding it of pests. This has enabled them to garner a group of clients to kickstart business with. The company hopes to be the premier pest removal company in Washington DC.

Besides the use of organic pest control services, EZ Bed Bug Exterminator uses heat treatment, which is safe for clients and technicians, to remove bed bugs. How to get rid of bed bugs | WUSA9.com – WUSA9.com

The first thing is: Don't panic. If you have bed bugs in your home and not fleas or ticks or something else, you can treat them. But it can be a real hassle.

Bruce Leshan, WUSA 6:47 PM. EST February 06, 2017

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - If you have bed bugs in your home, and not fleas or ticks or something else, you can treat them, but it can be a real hassle.

The EPA says bed bugs have developed resistance to a lot of pesticides, so reaching for a spray can may not work. Heat and cold are among the best ways to deal with them. Bed bugs infest things, not people. They're great hitchhikers, and will jump on luggage and backpacks to get around.

Deal with them first by cleaning up the clutter in your home. Encase your mattresses in a special bed bug cover. Regularly wash and dry your clothes, your sheets, your blankets and bedspreads, anything that touches the ground.

Bed bugs die anytime their body temperature gets over 113 degrees, so you need a hot dryer. For book bags and lunch boxes, an expert at Terminix says you can try and freeze the bugs to death, but not every home freezer may get cold enough for long enough to kill them.

Terminix uses a commercial rapid freeze process -- and birth control, if you can believe that. Thorough vacuuming can get rid of some of your bed bugs, but they cement some of their eggs to fabric and the floor... so the vacuum is unlikely to get all of them. If your home or your school is infested, the EPA says you may need to hire a professional to help. The agency again says you don't want one that just sprays a bunch of chemicals around your home. You're looking for something called "integrated pest management" that uses heat and cold and less toxic means to control them.

The experts say if you're throwing out mattresses or furniture to get rid of bed bugs, you need to slash or destroy it in some way -- so someone else doesn't take it home and get infested.

Bed Bugs – Residence Life | Montana State University

Bedbugs are a growing, worldwide problem brought about by increased travel and decreased use of pesticides. Bedbugs have been found in five-star hotels, college residence halls, hospitals, and virtually all other types of housing throughout the United States. Given the nearly 4,200+ residence hall students and hundreds of summer visitors from around the world who live in MSU residence halls each year, we have had experience in handling and removing bed bugs from our environment. MSU Residence Life has developed a multi-pronged approach to the handling of bed bugs when the staff is alerted to their presence. We also are continuing to enhance our educational efforts with students and guests about how to prevent the spread of bed bugs and to minimize the impact on our residence hall environment. We have outlined below our approach to help in understanding how bed bugs are handled at MSU.

There is not one approach or one thing that students and families can do to prevent bed bugs, but there are several different things that can be considered prior to moving into the residence halls to minimize any impact of bed bugs in the rooms. We encourage students and parents to educate themselves on bed bugs and to understand how they are transported, what they feed on, where they live, and what efforts can be made to minimize these efforts. Some of the suggestions that we encourage students and parents to consider are:

When an inspection of a room is ordered, the Residence Life staff will work with the students of the room as well as any adjacent rooms to inspect the personal belongings, the facility, and any other items that might have bed bugs in/on them. An inspection includes, but is not limited to:

Residence Life in conjunction with a local pest control company has worked to develop the best practice to take care of any confirmed cases of bed bugs found in the residence halls. Our process includes multiple efforts and approaches that based on the severity of the issue will be used. The various options include, but are not limited to:ta

The Rochester Public Library's Sully Branch closed early Friday after bed bugs were discovered there.

The library at530 Webster Ave. is connected to the Thomas P. Ryan R-Center. It will reopen Tuesday to allow a pest control company to spray the building over the weekend.

No evidence of bed bugs were discovered in the adjoining recreation center. But as a precaution, the R-Center will be closed Saturday to allow exterminators to investigate for signs of bed bugs.

If library patrons are concerned about materials borrowed from the Sully Branch, materials may be returned to the library in a zip-top plastic bag. They are asked to indicate if any evidence of bed bugs was discovered on the materials.

"In recent years, incidents of bed bug infestations have become a growing problem for all public buildings including hotels, schools, hospitals and libraries," a city spokesman said in a release. "Because bed bugs can hide in items like jackets, backpacks and other soft materials, they can be brought into any location."

According to the city, libraries are not suitable environments for bed bugs to thrive. "They require a human or animal host to survive and spread."

The Rochester Public Library has established "pest-control policies in its building-maintenance program." This includes regular inspections and treatments recommended by exterminators. Library staff are trained to recognize and report bed bugs to take immediate action to prevent the spread.
