Times Leader | Officials: No bedbug infestation at Nanticoke High … – Wilkes Barre Times-Leader
NANTICOKE Officials at the Nanticoke School District say that, despite rumors circulating among parents, there is no bedbug infestation at the high school.
The Times Leader received several tips about a potential infestation at the Greater Nanticoke Area High School.
Officials, however, maintain that only a single bedbug was found inside the building.
Building and Grounds Director Frank Grevera said an insect was found in a classroom on Tuesday. It was taken away, and determined to be a bedbug.
An exterminator came to the school at 5 p.m. Tuesday and sprayed the room. Grevera added that as a precaution, desks and all areas within the room were also sprayed.
When asked if there was an infestation, Grevera replied absolutely not.
We didnt even see one of them from that point, he said. It was not known how the bedbug made it into the school. It could have come from absolutely anybody. We have no idea where it came from.
Grevera stressed that bedbugs have not been reported in any other classrooms in the high school.
Rich Colwell, owner of Colwell Termite & Pest Control in Wilkes-Barre, said the sighting of one bedbug is not reason for concern.
Finding one sporadically and not finding anything else is no reason for concern whatsoever, he said. It could be a reason to start monitoring, but that would be about it.
In a voice note sent to parents Wednesday, superintendent Ronald Grevera cited posts on social media that have caused a lot of havoc and problems at the high school as a result of the incident.
There is no need for concern, and there is no reason for parents to pull kids out of school this afternoon (Wednesday) contrary to many of the text messages and phone calls they may be getting from students, Grevera said in the note.

Iowa Bed Bug Control
Springer introduces environmentally friendly, chemical-free bed bug control to Iowa and Des Moines.
While bed bug infestations have been virtually non-existent for decades, their incredible resurgence since 1996 has allowed bed bugs to repopulate every type of dwelling by the millions. Up to one home in six reports the presence of bed bugs.
Bed bugs are wingless and approximately a quarter of an inch long. Their flattened shape allows them to hide in cracks and crevices during the day. Then, during the night they emerge, attracted to our sleeping, warm bodies. They pierce the skin with their straw-like mouthparts to suck out our blood.
Springer Professional Homes Services uses natural pest control a non-toxic solution that eradicates bed bugs using only the exclusive and 100% effective effective RxHeat system.
Because bed bugs in any stage of development cannot survive in temperatures above 113 F, Springers eco pest control system heats a structures interior between 135 and 150 degrees for the relatively short time it takes to exterminate the bugs, including those in tiny crevices.
Springers green, all natural thermal extermination process uses no chemicals whatsoever. Your home or business is safe and ready to re-inhabit between four and 24 hours after treatment. So for bed bugs in Iowa give us a call.

Bed Bugs in Clothing – Orkin.com
Question: So I had the Orkin Man to my apartment on Saturday and they determined we have bed bugs. I am currently scheduling an appointment to have this problem taken care of. I have followed the preparation sheet but there is no information concerning the clothes in the bedroom. I was told to move everything away from walls and vacuum and to box up any clutter. What do I do with the clothes?? Do they remain in the room? And if so should they be boxed/bagged?? Or do I remove them from the room?
Answer: To reduce the potential for bed bug infested clothes re-infesting the room, it is best if you remove the clothes and wash them all or have them dry cleaned. If washing, be sure to use hot water and high heat in the dryer.
Question: I have bed bugs! I dont believe I have an infestation, and my furniture and apartment have been sprayed multiple times, but I am throwing much of my furniture out anyway, and moving out.
My question is thisI need to wash all of my clothing so that I can take them with me without the risk of bringing the bed bugs. How can I do that? I know they need very hot water. Will a normal wash and dry at a laundromat do? Is there any way to treat (spray, fumigate) the clothes before washing them?
ANSWER: Regular washing and drying of the clothes at high temperatures will be fine, no treatment of clothing is needed.

‘This was in both my ears’ a woman says about bed bugs at the Aurora Apartments – FOX 29
San Antonio- A woman who has been living at the Aurora apartments for four years says shes one of the residents dealing with a massive bed bug problem there.
She says she has no idea who brought them to the apartments but has found them in her door seal, window seal, even her ears.
This was in both my ears. It was horrible when I saw them after I cleaned my ears, the woman said.
Now, her apartment looks like its been flipped upside down after word of the pesky problem reached the city.
Late last week treatment began right away.
A second woman says she's even been picking at the problem.
I would take them out. I filled a jar, said the other woman.
Now, she worries since cleanup is underway, she may have little to come back to.
Nobody knows what they are going to walk back in to, she said.
By signing a bed bug addendum in accordance to the Texas Apartment Association if bed bugs are found in your apartment 48 hours after moving in you must pay for treatment.
If the bed bugs are discovered during the first 48 hours, property management pays.
During treatment, you must destroy or remove any personal belongings that cannot be treated like mattresses and furniture.
Not cooperating can result in lease termination.
So if property has to be thrown out, the best chance you have at getting it replaced is by finding the person who is the source of the problem and having them pay.
Its a mystery trained exterminators say is hard to pin point.
The woman says all she wants is to be able to live in her apartment with peace of mind.
That Ill be able to stay in my apartment without fear of them coming back, that they will reappear because I dont have anywhere else to go, the woman said.
