Bed Bugs are Parasites and live off of us – PR Newswire …

PHOENIX, May 19, 2014 -- /PRNewswire/ --

Three Ways Bed Bugs Are Bad for Your Health When most people hear the words "bed bugs," they start to squirm a little and think, do I feel something crawling on me? And then the imaginary itching starts. We won't lie to you: There's nothing pretty about bed bugs. But with the increased news coverage they've received of late in Phoenix, we thought we might shed a little light on why you should be worried, above and beyond the creepiness factor. 1. Bed Bugs Are Parasites Bed bugs live off the blood of their prey, much the way mosquitoes do. They come out mostly at night and get into beds, typically crawling onto legs and feet to bite and feed. Although most people are not allergic to bed bugs, their bites can leave red marks that itch and cause discomfort. For small children who live in a home with a bed bug infestation, they may lose significant blood, especially if they already suffer from anemia. Most bed bugs feed for 3-15 minutes every 3-4 days. 2. Bed Bugs Carry Diseases Just as mosquitoes are known to carry dangerous diseases from person to person when sucking blood from their hosts, bed bugs are also privy to those blood-borne pathogens. According to a study at Purdue University, nearly 30 diseases have been found in bed bugs, including everything from viruses and bacteria to protozoa and parasitic worms. Thankfully, there have been no proven cases in which bed bugs have transferred diseases between hosts, so they are much less dangerous than mosquitoes in this arena. 3. Bed Bugs Reproduce Quickly A well-fed bed bug can lay up to 500 eggs in her lifetime. While that fact alone is not dangerous to human health, it's the fact that the bed bugs multiply -- in large numbers -- that makes getting rid of them that much more of a challenge. While most bed bugs don't travel once they've set up residence, they certainly can attach themselves to luggage or clothing, and they can lay eggs in those locations as well, meaning they can spread quickly. The squirm factor aside, bed bugs can cause health problems and are a big issue that should concern everyone. Thankfully, when working with Budget Brothers Termite & Pest Elimination, your bed bug problems will be a thing of the past in no time. And if you're concerned that you might have bed bugs (especially after reading this article!), perhaps a bed-bug inspection is the way to go to ensure that your residence is safe. Bed Bugs Trouble Georgia's Children's Hospital, My Cleaning Products Suggests a Spray to Kill Bed Bugs Fast Without …

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 19, 2014

Bed bugs were found in children's hospital in Georgia. News website wrdw.com related the details of it on its post dated May 14, 2014. Meanwhile, wanting to help anyone kill bed bugs without the help of any harmful chemical, My Cleaning Products recommended the use of an organic-based bed bug spray.

The report relayed that the presence of the critters was already confirmed. And to get rid of them, it shared that the hospital called in exterminators. Moreover, it related that the employees were warned to look out for the bugs and the people in the affected areas were also notified.

Based on the report, a nursing staff was the first to discover the crawlies. It detailed that they were particularly found in two patient rooms and a waiting area in the facility.

Here is an excerpt from the post Bed Bugs Found in Georgia Hospital by My Cleaning Products.

The Children's Hospital of Georgia was bugged. And the culprits are the small but horrible bed bugs.

A nursing staff was the first to discover the critters. Particularly, they were found in two patient rooms. They were also confirmed present in one waiting area of the building.

According to My Cleaning Products, the places that people frequent are very susceptible to bed bug presence. The reason it cited is that bed bugs usually feed on human blood.

However, it countered that anyone could prevent a major infestation of those pests. To do it, it stated that one needs to stay alert of any bed bug sign. That way, an immediate elimination could be implemented, it said.

But as it added, a bed bug spray is also needed to implement the prompt extermination of the critters. And so, MCP advised the public to prepare one. It specified though that everybody's choice of the product must be safe to protect health.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about Bed Bugs below!

In any infestation, you will find bed bugs in several stages of development. An adult bed bug is relatively easy to see as it is about the size of an apple seed, and resembles the shape of a small tick. (The photo above shows a suburban Wichita bed bug at about twice life-size.) It is in the juvenile stages that bed bugs are hardest to see. In the first stage from the egg, they have no color and will blend in with their surroundings. After their first blood meal, they will have a dark brownish color but still be tiny - about the size of a large piece of sand.

No, bed bugs are not found just on beds. They can be found anywhere throughout a structure. The most common place to find them, though, is at the bed. Bed bugs, like most parasites, will stay fairly close to their food source - us. They feed primarily from midnight to 5 a.m., and most of us are in our beds at that time. That's why 80% of the time bed bugs will be found within just a few feet - hiding on the mattress & box springs, head board and bed frame, and night stand. These are the most common but not the only places - we've also found them behind picture frames, in lamps and clock radios, the list goes on.

The very first thing that you need to do is contact a Professional Pest Control company that is well versed in bed bugs. (Note: Not all pest control companies are proficient or knowledgeable in the control of bed bugs!) They will perform an inspection of your premises to determine how serious the problem is. Most experienced companies have treatment methods available that will not require the disposal of your belongings. If after their initial inspection they feel it is necessary to do so, they will inform you at that time.
