There some natural remedies for bed bugs that do work- and then theres some that dont. Its important to learn the differences between the two before trying anything.

Its rumored that checking into a five-star hotel would guarantee bed bug protection. This, however, isnt the case. Five-star hotels arent necessary safe from bed bugs either. So make sure your cautious even when going to a hotel- keep your clothing sealed and inspect the bedding before you make it your own.

Some people have been told that carrying lavender oil spray at all times is another way to keep the bed bugs away. But this too is just a rumor. While they may not like the spray, it wont get rid of them- if theyre really hungry, theyll find a way to overcome it. Dont go out and buy any scented type of spray you can find- ultimately, its just a waste of money. The one good thing about lavender spray, however, is if you spray some onto your pillow, it can help make falling asleep a lot easier. With this spray, you wont have as many sleepless nights.

Bed bugs will often fall victim to intense heat. However, they can even survive in heat for long periods of time, so if you are thinking about putting any infected clothing and bedding into dryers, make sure you keep it there for an extended amount of time.

There are some natural methods that do work. Both freezing and using steam or heat will work. Just make sure to expose the bugs to these temperatures for a while to guarantee effectiveness.

Diatomaceous earth is another remedy that works. This powder is known to kill bugs, but shouldnt be used for serious infestations. It would still be best to consult with an exterminator before using this option.
