Suggestions for Bed Bug Exterminators? : halifax
We have bed bugs.
We've done some basic damage control - threw out a couch, bought some mattress covers, laundered bedding, some clothing, curtains, etc., and vacuumed all over the place - but the bugs persist.
I have no idea where they're hiding, but we wake up with new bites each day. We think they're also in the living room since we're pretty sure some recent houseguests are the cause.
We're going to mention it to the superintendent, but since there's a good chance we caused the infestation (although we did see a couple before the houseguests arrived...), and since I've read that Nova Scotia likes to put cost on the tenant unless they can prove otherwise, we're looking for some options.
Has anyone had to hire an exterminator for bed bugs? How much did it cost? How long did it take? Did you or your pets have to leave the apartment?

M2 Bed Bugs LLC – M2 – Bed Bug Treatment
Everyone Passed!!! Not some... not most... EVERYONE!!
Congratulations to our inspection teams; We have more certified inspection teams (9) then any other company in Ohio! Every M2 team passed the 2017 NESDCA certification test for bed bug scent dogs!! Good things happen when you take pride in what you do!
If you're going to do a job, do it right! Our goal is not to wage a long and costly war at your house or place of business. Our goal is to win! Period! We do not go to a location with the hope of just reducing an infestation. We strive for absolute elimination.
We fix your Bed Bug problems! Period! This is what we do. This is our commitment to you.
We also have good reviews on BBB, Angie's List, Home Advisor and other places on the internet. These sites don't force us to behave. This is how we run our business. These solid reviews are a result of our commitment to service and our commitment to you.Truth be told...Middle-men like Angie's List and Home Advisor say they are free services. In fact, they charge the service provider and that service provider passed the expense on to you. How do we know? We tried them at one time. We have since stopped. We do not believe in using middle-men services because of the hidden costs. You will find that the better companies are not on these sites.
Simply put... The old ways of exterminating don't work for bed bugs. We have mastered the skills required to find and exterminate them. From houses, to offices, to hotels, to retail businesses; we have you covered.
It sounds simple, but it's not. Humans can find bed bugs, but we aren't very effective. Some dogs (like ours) have incredible noses that can do amazing things like track other animals, track bad guys, find explosives, find drugs, find cadavers, and other things. M2 dogs go to school with police dogs, search and rescue dogs, cadaver dogs, and personal protection dogs. Our handlers are also trained extensively. When we put them together, we have a great solution to your bed bug problems.
Our professionals come in 2 forms:Inspection Teamscome in 2s, a Handler and a Bed Bug Detection Dog. This is Mike Posey and Turbo. They go through extensive training. They can find the Bed Bugs others miss, eliminate them, and then prove that they are gone. If you decide to have your issues resolved using pesticides, the handler is thoroughly trained in eliminating your infestation.Heater Techniciansdo exactly that...heat your spaces. They are responsible for using strong heaters to safely raise the temperature of your spaces to eliminate your bed bugs.
Everyone knows that bed bugs are tough to eliminate. So we bring it all! Some scenarios are better suited for Heat while other are more suited for Pesticides. Sometimes we use both....When do we recommend Heat?- Smaller infestations.- Confined physically by walls.- Customer preference. When do we recommend Pesticides?- No physical confinement like office cubes, waitingrooms, theaters, churches, etc..- Sensitive belongings.- Customer Preference. When do we recommend both?- A mixture of confined and unconfined spaces.- It's a big infestation and there are a lot of places for bed bugs to go.
Sincerely,Paul Kidwell -Housing DirectorPickaway County Community Action Org, Inc.469 East Ohio Street
NOTE: Safety is very important to us. This includes keeping our dogs safe. Pesticides caninjure our dogs. ifyou (or anyone) has sprayed a pesticide in the last 4 weeks, it is very important for us to know. If you're not sure...we would like to hear that too.Click the link below to view and print the Pre-Inspection Checklist.

How to Check for Bed Bugs: Detection Tips – Orkin.com
Detecting bed bugs can be difficult, as they are small in size and able to hide in tiny cracks and crevices. However, evidence of a bed bug infestation may be found in bedding and on mattresses. Live bed bugs leave clusters of dark brown or black spots of dried excrement on infested surfaces. Bed bugs also exude a subtle, sweet, musty odor.
Bed Bug Cluster
Where to Check for Bed BugsBed bugs usually are found close to where people spend much of their time, and since bed bugs have flattened bodies, they like to get into small cracks and crevice near where people sleep. Examples include mattresses, box springs, headboards, footboards, bed frames and other furniture that is within 5-8 feet of the bed. Other common locations are cracks and gaps behind wall outlets, floor molding, window and door molding and where carpet edges meet the wall. Bed bugs have been known to occur in many different locations if their population is large and they have dispersed from their more common areas to areas where they are normally less likely to be found.
Bed bugs are easily transported into previously non-infested dwellings.
If you have detected a bed bug infestation within your home, contact a pest control professional to discuss treatment options.
