A Vermont federal office was hit by bed bugs. It was reported by wcax.com on June 13, 2013 that it was inspected for the pests on Wednesday. However, for the elimination of the critters, My Cleaning Products said that the use of the bed bug spray Bed Bug Bully is the best method to implement. It offered complimentary samples of it to prove its assessment.

According to the report, it was specifically the Vermont Service Center that was scourged by bed bugs, My Cleaning Products shared. It detailed that this recent infestation was actually the third time for the center since April.

The report stated that the office's employees were the ones who informed wcax about the bed bug problem, MCP said. But apart from the infestation itself, it added that some of them were also upset that they were expected to work even in areas likely infested.

The employees of Vermont Service Center are puzzled. Their question who brought the bed bugs in their office?

"According to the federal office's employees, their building was inspected on Wednesday. During which, a number of chairs and filing cabinets were moved out.

"However, it wasn't the first time that bed bugs were sighted in the center. Actually, the most-recent bed bug inspection was already the third one implemented on the building.

MCP relayed that the source of the infestation in Vermont Service Center was never determined. Considering that bed bugs are very good hitchhikers and that there are more than a thousand of people going in and out of the place, it commented it is indeed an impossible feat to trace who brought the pests in the federal office.

However, it stated that the elimination of bed bugs is the opposite of it. It is definitely possible to get rid of those pests, it said. And to prevent them from growing in number and spreading wider, it asserted that the treatment must be prompt among others.

Bed bugs are parasitic insects. Human blood is their preferred food, but they will also feed on rodents, bats, birds and pets, if humans arent available.During its life cycle, a bed bug hatches from an egg into a nymph and molts (sheds its old skin) five times before becoming a full sized adult, about the size of an apple seed. Eggs are glued onto a surface by the adult female bed bug. All nymphal stages and adults require blood meals. Bed bugs typically bite at night. However, they also can feed during the daytime.

Adult bed bugs are small, but visible to the naked eye. An adult bed bug is from 1/4 3/8 inches long and reddish brown. Bed bugs have an oval shape with a flattened body when unfed; their body becomes swollen after they have fed. The young nymph (immature) that has just hatched from the egg is less than 1/10 inches long and nearly colorless, but it becomes red after taking a blood meal. There are five nymphal stages, with each stage slightly larger than the preceding one. Nymphs typically are yellowish brown to reddish brown.Bed bugs cannot fly, but they can walk very fast. They are able to cling tightly to surfaces, and they can fit into very small cracks and crevices where they often hide during the day.

Consult your physician regarding bed bug bites. Anti-itching medications and antibiotic salves applied to the skin may be helpful.

A low-cost trap to get rid of bedbugs

They will definitely suck your blood, but they shouldn't drain your wallet. Thats the message from University of Florida insect researchers who have developed a bedbug trap that costs consumer less than $1 to build.

"Having low cost bedbug control is a must," said Roberto M. Pereira, Ph.D., Associate Research Scientist at the University of Florida.

Pereira works in a lab that is positively crawling with pests cockroaches, termites, flies, mosquitoes, and bedbugs among them.

"It's very creepy for someone that's not used to it," Pereira said.

The trap UF entomologists have designed for do-it-yourself construction is remarkably simple and intended to rest beneath bedposts. Essentially, its two plastic containers (the first smaller than the second) placed inside of one another.

"We want to have a mote between the two containers, Pereira said. Like a castle."

The secret ingredient is a common household item: ordinary masking tape.

Pereira wraps the tape around the edges of the exterior container, then adds vertical strips to the interior of the smaller container. And thats about it.

"The tape serves as a place for the bed bugs to climb," Pereira explains, noting that bed bugs tiny legs are unable to traverse the slick plastic edges of kitchen containers.
