Stayed at the Mirage Aug. 26 - 29. We were in room E-54. Thats the penthouse suite. The second day I started itching on the lower part of my legs. Small bumps arouse that looked like bug bites. I didn't think much about it while I was there but the bites started to really itch. I showed a friend that mentioned they looked like bed bug bites. After an internet search of info and photos it sure looks like bed bug bites to me. I saw a Doctor that verified they were insect bites. Everywhere was gro

ups of three. I called the hotel and a report was filed with risk management. They called a week later to inform me that it never happened. Despite my sending them clear photos and a Doctors report. And I was a VIP guest too.

My 2 sons and I just came back from 6 days at the Mirage in Las Vegas. We stayed in rooms 21096 and 21094. My oldest and I stayed in 21096 and he has the worst case of bedbug bites that the dermatologist had ever seen. All over his chest, arms, back, and even his face. Called the Mirage and they are looking into it, but we had our bags on the floor and I had remarked how the floors didn't look very clean. Our bags were also in the bell captains storage as we weren't sure we were going to s

My husband and I stayed at the Mirage hotel from Aug 22, 2013 to August 29th. Toward the end of our stay one night I felt like I was being pricked. I though it was my dry skin from sunburn. The next morning I saw a small bug on the bed but thought it was a tick that I may have picked it up at the pool and burned it and gave it no thought. A few weeks later in the third week of September my husband kept noticing things on our sheets that looked like blood and black dots, and I kept complaining

that I felt itchy and felt like I was being bitten. We wash our sheets every week but kept finding spots. He tried to hide the fact that he was seeing bugs. He treated our room but he still did not know that we were looking at bed bugs. I am totally grossed out. He finally came clean with me last week and had been using something that he ordered off the internet to clean everyrthing. They were in my box springs when we checked. We threw everything away after we treated. Box springs, pillows, comforter, blankets, sheets, etc. Our mattress was very expensive so we thought it was okay since it had a mattress cover on it. We waited two days after we treated our entire bedroom and put all the new stuff in the room. I was afraid to go to bed that night and I still felt like I was being bit(They like women with no hair better then men). My husband thought it was my imagination. I pulled back the covers and there were four near me. I am having mental issues because of this and am afraid to be in my own home. We have Orkin coming out to bomb two rooms but you only get a 30 day warranty and these bugs can lie dormant without feeding for one year. This has been a huge expense and an entire two days of prep time. We had to empty out all of our drawers and closets and clean every piece of clothing and put them in 19 bags and now we have to clean all of them. I have been at this hotel and it was always a good experience. There were other issues as well that were reported while we were there. I just wish that seeing this bug was one of them

How to Avoid Bed Bugs When You Travel – HubPages

For most people, the worst thing about getting bed bug bites is the idea of the tiny pests in their bed, biting them. Bed bug bites themselves are not usually dangerous or harmful. Few people will experience allergic reactions.

Unlike mosquitoes, bed bugs do not transmit disease. You could get an infection from scratching bed bug bites, but that is usually the extent of any potential problem.

Do be aware that bed bug bites seem to take forever to heal, and also that bites may not appear until days after you are bitten. I got my bites over a week ago, and the red dots stubbornly remain covering my feet and legs. A few stay bites are visible on my arms and hands, too.

If itching is a problem, ask your doctor if you can take over the counter antihistamines like Benadryl and/or use a topical cream with cortisone. Should your bites get infected, you may need antibiotics. Again, consult a medical professional.

FAIRFAX Va. - The new 2013 Bugs Without Borders Survey conducted by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and the University of Kentucky, found that bed bug infestations in the United States continue at high rates and the pest is as much, if not more of a problem than in years past. The survey of U.S. pest management professionals, found that 99.6 percent of respondents encountered bed bug infestations in the past year and that infestations have increased in the majority of locations in which pest professionals typically treat for bed bugs. The study is being released during Bed Bug Awareness Week (April 22 through 26), a national observance by NPMA and Chases Book of Lists to help spread public awareness about bed bugs and what people can do to help curb infestations.

This is the third survey from NPMA and the University of Kentucky which tracks the bed bug problem since the resurgence of the pest began in earnest about three years ago. The previous survey was conducted in 2011.

According to the survey, bed bugs are overwhelmingly found in private residences including apartments, condominiums and single-family homes and the incidence of infestations in these environments is slightly higher compared to the 2011 findings.

These results clearly show that there is still much work to be done in the fight against bed bugs, said Missy Henriksen, vice president of public affairs for NPMA. As Americans prepare for summer travel, enroll their children in summer camps and college students return home, we hope that these survey findings and Bed Bug Awareness Week observances will remind the public that bed bugs are still very much a problem and that with education and vigilance we can work together to decrease the easy spread of bed bugs.

Below are the top five findings from the 2013 Bugs Without Borders Survey:

1. Nearly all (99.6 percent) pest professionals have treated bed bugs in the past year, slightly higher than the 99 percent that reported the same in 2011.

2. The majority of bed bug infestations occur in residential settings, such as apartments/condominiums and single-family homes, with 98 percent and 96 percent of respondents treating these dwellings respectively. Two years ago, about nine out of ten respondents reported treating infestations in these settings.

Spent nine nights at the hotel in December 2012. Noticed two bites during our stay and wasn't concerned. We came back home, unpacked everything and the next day, I found 12 bites on me, realized they were bed bug bites and called the hotel. They said they would let the current guests in the room check out and then send an inspector in to check the room and get back to me by this coming weekend. However, one day later (today), we are noticing my husband's back full of bites and a bunch on his ar

ms as well. I can write again once I get their response, but think it's good for guests of the hotel to be able to see this report.

Woke up on July 6 to find several bed bugs under my pillow. I reported this to the front desk and spoke to the manager before checking out. He later called and confirmed the infestation. He also sent me a two night stay voucher for a future stay which I thought was very nice. The bug bites did not really appear for a couple of days but have been horrible this last week.
