Helpful ReviewsAlex Hotel & SuitesPugo C.rated

Recently stayed here twice and was happy with the hotel and the location. It's on Spenard, a short walk to some great inexpensive restaurants, and not far from the airport. My only complaint was regarding the hotel airport shuttle. It's inconsistent at best. On arrival the first night we were told it would be 45 minutes as he'd taken some people to the train station. We therefore took a cab. The next morning we thought we'd booked an airport shuttle for 6:30 but the driver was leaving again for a different destination and wouldn't take us to the airport. We again took a cab. The next time there (a week later) I was told the shuttle would be 6-7 minutes. After 15 minutes I called the hotel again, they said "sorry, the driver had to go to the bathroom" and in fact it took another 10 minutes before he finally arrived. We were exhausted and really wanted to get to our rooms, and would have again taken a cab had we known it would be such a long wait. They do shuttles to downtown anchorage and the farmers' market, and I asked the desk when that would leave again (was told 15 minutes or so). Then when I went back down I learned that someone had needed to go earlier, so they took him right away and weren't going to be going again, so I missed my shuttle. The person I talked to was pretty blase about it and said I could take the bus which wasn't far from the hotel. That wasn't the issue, but that I was told a departure time only to learn that they'd changed it without letting me know.

My mother, sister and I stayed here in june of 2014. The many reviews I read of negative remarks originally scarde me. But as budget wise travelers I chose to try it out. It was a great decision. We were checked in immediately upon arrival. After a long stay at the anchorage airport that was great! We were welcomed to the hotel, after the shuttle picked us up, and our rooms were clean. Breakfast was decent. Our bellies were filled. The shuttle even dropped us off downtown at the summer market later in the day! (Beware of prices in the market for souvenirs. ...go out and venture the city once done with the market...cheaper souveniers) Ok, back to hotel. Its worth what you pay and two stars. Expecting glamour is ridiculous but, quality of envirnoment and amenities are just right!

My wife and I were fortunate enough to make a four night reservation at the Alex Hotel in Anchorage. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and that bed was SOOO comfortable. Shortly after our arrival in Anchorage we had to make a significant change to our travel plans which required us to stay in the hotel for nine nights instead of four nights. Hotel management could not have been more accommodating if I had owned the hotel; they were able to confirm a nine night stay instead of four, even during a time of heavy booking. What a relief it was to have a room available when we needed it! We will look forward to staying in the Alex Hotel on our next trip to Anchorage.

Bed Bug Pest Control MA | A1 Exterminators

The proliferation of bed bugs in the United States and in the world at large is a reality. Constant vigilance is necessary. Early detection is key for successful bed bug control and prevention of a major infestation. And professional exterminator intervention is increasingly becoming a must to control the problem.

Bed bugs are small, cryptic and agile preferring to hide close to where they feed. However, if necessary, they will crawl several feet to obtain a blood meal. Initial infestations tend to be around beds, but the bugs eventually may become scattered throughout the bedroom, occupying any crevice or protected location.

The social stigma of bed bug infestation creates its own challenge. People do not always tell others because they are embarrassed. Thus, visiting guests unknowingly may take the bed bugs home with them.

A1s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to bed bug control and extermination combines all available methods of eliminating bed bugs. See our 6 steps to bedbug elimination here. We tailor our services to suit your needs and budget and find the best bed bug treatment plan for you and your home or business.

More bed bug infestations in Arkansas | KATV

More bed bugs are invading Arkansas.

The Arkansas Department of Health is receiving an increasing number of complaints over last year.

Bed bugs feed on the blood of sleeping people and animals. They are about the size of an apple seed, reddish-brown in color, and wingless. They can live several months without a blood meal.

According to Susan Weinstein, DVM, state public health veterinarian, the presence of bed bugs in an area does not necessarily mean the place is not clean.

"Bed bugs are, unfortunately, staging a comeback in the United States and their presence has nothing to do with cleanliness or disease," Weinstein said. "They are certainly a nuisance, and very hard to get rid of, but some of the finest hotels in the country have had the same problems."

Bed bugs are usually transported from place to place in the seams and folds of luggage, overnight bags, folded clothes, bedding, furniture, and anywhere else where they can hide when people travel. Most people are unaware they are carrying the insects until it is too late.

Experts believe the uptick in bed bug infestations is due to an increased resistance to available pesticides and more travel.

The insects do not carry diseases, but do leave itchy or painful bites. Bites look like little red bumps. They sometimes resemble mosquito bites.
