When Bed Bugs Bite, Call Not Tonite Thermal Remediation

Not Tonite Thermal Pest Remediation and Full-Service Pest Extermination

If you havent heard or experienced first-hand, bed bugs are making a come-back!

Not Tonite is a family-owned and operated full-service pest control company with over 20 years experience in insect heat remediation, killing bed bugs and other insect pests. Our technicians use the best equipment available in the industry and have access to the most complete, on-going training and certification. We use only environmentally-friendly products and practices keeping your home and familys health and well-being first and foremost.

When we inspect your home for bed bugs, we check the common harborages and also look for bed bug residue: cast skins, fecal spots, and hatched eggs. Bed bugs are small and reclusive. These insects are about the size of apple seeds and are visible if you know where to look. You spend much more time in your home as an observer and you are much more likely to find a bed bug than a pest control professional performing a quick visual inspection. Many companies offer free inspections to employ scare sales tactics. We do not believe in this practice. Regardless of the pests afflicting you and your family, heat treatments will kill them. Every living organism has a thermal death point.

When bed bugs bite, call Not Tonite. Unlike traditional pest control that requires multiple applications of toxic chemicals and pesticides, we use a single application of activated heat to eliminate bed bugs in Newport News and the surrounding areas. This innovative and economical technology allows us to safely eradicate your bed bug problem in one treatment. We utilize the best and most state-of-the-art process in the pest control industry, and work directly with Dr. Michael R. Linford, the pioneer of heat in the pest control field.

Our thermal pest eradication methods dont let bed bugs hide like they can in traditional treatments. We heat your entire house and all its contents. Dont worrytreatment temperatures are no hotter than a sauna! Our bed bug heat treatment process kills bed bugs, lice, cockroaches, termites, and their eggs. Heat treatments denature protein allergens and can reduce the infectious nature of bacteria and viruses. Whole-house heat treatments with our propane heaters will also flush many irritants from your home and reduce or eliminate odors and allergens.

Our bed bug heat treatments are 100% safe for your home and your possessions, but 100% deadly to all life stages of bed bugs and other insects.

Killing bed bugs with heat is clean, safe, and straight-forward:

Not Tonite offers the longest warranty of any bed bug heat treatment company in Newport News. This guarantee applies to full service heat treatments of entire residences. Not Tonite reserves the right to spot treat repeat infestations with any non-toxic treatment deemed appropriate.

Traditional bed bug extermination treatments are extremely tedious, require multiple visits, and a significant amount of preparation... not to mention all the chemicals toxic to you, your family, and your pets. A University of Massachusetts study found that three traditional pesticide treatments are usually required to eliminate a bed bug problem. Bed bugs have become more resistant than ever to pesticides. Bed bug infestations often return if all their eggs are not killed. Our bed bug heat treatments kill 100% of your insect pests in one treatment.

Not Tonite typically eliminates bed bug infestations in one day allowing you to resume normal use of the room quickly. Killing bed bugs in Newport News is safe, quick, and discreet.

Heat Treatment for Bed Bugs | Kill Bed Bugs | Terminix Canada

Instead of using toxins to kill bed bugs, our bed bug heat treatment takes advantage of bed bugs' one true weakness - their inability to stand extreme temperatures - getting rid of bed bugs by overloading them with steady heat. Best of all, it does this without adversely affecting your home or belongings, since the temperature required to kill bed bugs is relatively low to humans.

There is considerable documentation citing the temperature and time correlations necessary to kill bed bugs and their eggs. Several sources report that adults and nymphs die within 15 minutes at temperatures greater than 113F, and eggs within an hour at the same temperature. Raising room temperatures above the bed bug thermal death point and maintaining that temperature for several hours can eliminate an entire bedbug infestation in one fell swoop, without necessitating the use of dangerous chemicals.

The temperature required to kill bed bugs and their eggs falls well within the temperature ranges achieved by our heat treatment for bed bugs.

The low thermal death point of bed bugs allows a Terminix bed bug exterminator to adapt our process to yout building and its contents, while still effectively killing bed bugs onsite. Unlike pesticides, bed bug heat treatments penetrate furniture and crevices, and kill bed bugs where they reside. Our process forces heat into beds, bedding, mattresses, furniture, electronics, and wall cavities, leaving no place for bed bugs to run - a true bed bug killer.

Since our bed bug heat treatments kill entire bed bug infestations, including eggs and bed bugs concealed in furniture and mattresses, a single bed bug killer treatment can render additional bed bug extermination visits unnecessary, saving you time and money.

Will Drying Clothes Kill Bed Bugs? – Colonial Pest Control

Will Drying Clothes Kill Bed Bugs? By Chris Williams on September 29, 2014.

Bed bugs can be killed by the washer or dryer, if the cycle is hot and long enough.

People ask me this all the time and then seem surprised when I tell them, Yes! Fortunately, a conventional clothes dryer can kill bed bugs. This is good news since it is so hard to kill bed bugs, even with pesticides. High temperatures will kill many insects, and bed bugs are no exception.

Notice that I said high temperatures. One research study found that all stages of bed bugs died at temperatures of 104-122F., if held for at least 30 minutes. Other research has shown that even higher temperatures are necessary to do the job. You should err on the side of drying for a longer time to ensure kill. When items spent only 10 minutes in a dryer on high, 25% of the bed bug nymphs and 15% of adult bed bugs survived. Using the COOL setting on a dryer for an extended time did not kill any bed bugs at all. This shows that its the heat, not the trauma of being tumbled that is killing the bugs.

The problem is that most people dont know how hot their dryer gets on the HIGH or HOT setting. In general, LOW settings are around 125F., MEDIUM settings reach 135F., and on HIGH, a dryer should reach 155F. Use the hottest dryer setting that your items will tolerate.

Washing clothes at very hot temperatures will also kill bed bugs without the need for a hot dry cyclealthough adding a drying cycle will help insure kill. Again, both time and temperature are important. One hundred percent of bed bugs are killed when wash water is 140F. for a 30-minute wash cycle. Washing at lower temperatures will kill adults and nymphs but most bed bugs eggs will survive.

Bed bugs dont live in clothes like body lice but they will hide in clothes or shoes. And its very likely that some bed bugs will be found on bed linens and mattress covers. Clothes or other items that dont require washing but do require bed bug disinfestation can be dried only. Items like backpacks, fabric purses, stuffed animals, and shoes can be placed in a dryer, too, as long as they wont be damaged by hot temps. Dry cleaning kills all stages of bed bugs and is a good alternative for delicate items that cant take hot washer or dryer temperatures.

Remember, though, that washing and/or drying clothes and certain items may give you peace of mind after a vacation, but if you have a bed bug infestation in your home, you need the services of a professional exterminator. After all, you cant wash and dry your mattress, box spring, bedside table, etc., all of which may be hiding bed bugs.

Bed Bugs Or Bat Bugs? – Get Bats Out – Bat Removal Experts

Nearly everyone has been bugged by gnats, flies, and mosquitoes, possibly even lice. But how many have ever heard of, much less been the victim of bat bugs or scientifically known as bat mites? Instead of being someones bad idea of a comic book antihero, bat mites are real. And they can be a real nuisance.

Most people are familiar with bed bugs or dust mites, so when we find ourselves bitten by annoying little insects, we assume we should treat the area to get rid of those insects. We usually treat an infested area with insecticides, believing that will end the infestation. Many a landlord has hired a professional insect control company, only to have his tenants complain of re-infestation within a short time after the treatment was applied. These landlords have found out the hard way that, if so-called bed bugs return, it is quite likely that those bed bugs are actually bat mites.

As the name would suggest, bat mites are tiny little parasites that feed on bats. Bat mites, like their hosts (especially brown bats that roost in colonies), love to live in dark, protected areas and narrow retreats where it is difficult to find and get rid of them. They live a relatively long time for such little creaturesup to a year in cool areas.

Property owners will sometimes use aerosol bombs or other insecticide treatments, hoping to drive the bats away or kill any nesting bats while killing the insects. However, this is not a good course of action. Assuming that the bats are driven out by the aerosol, they will soon return. And a new infestation of mites, carried in on the returning bats, will soon replace any mites killed by the aerosol. The only effective way to get rid of the mites is to get rid of the bats first, making sure they cannot return. Only then will any mite control be effective.

Even if all the bats have been excluded and the site is now officially bat-free, there is still a likelihood that bat bugs are lurking in the corners, behind the wallpaper, in the carpets, or possibly in beddingsearching for a new source of food. This source may end up being human tenants or their pets, so steps should be taken to get rid of the mites.

Suppose there is evidence of bat mites in bedding. Should you use an insecticide on the bedding? The answer is an emphatic No! Bedding should always be protected from insecticide. Rather, frequent washing of the sheets in hot water and the use of mattress covers specifically designed for control of mites are recommended. Special mattress covers can be found online or in stores specializing in allergy-control bedding.

If bats are suspected and a buildings tenants are itching, or youve already employed a pest control service but still have bugs, take these steps in order to assure your bat mite problem is solved:

There is no need to continue to coexist with bat mites (or bats). By calling in a bat control specialist, you will be able to control both problems, saving yourself time (no other exterminators needed), money (only one exterminator at one price and any tenants will not be tempted to leave because of the bugs), and hassle (letting the professionals handle the pests is the safest, most effective way of ridding yourself of both bats and bat mites). Be sure to call if you suspect bats or bat mites. Youll be pleased with the results.

What are bed bugs?

Bed bugs are insects that feed on the blood of people and animals. They are small, flat, brown, and oval. They do not have wings.

Bed bugs are becoming an increasing problem in many cities and towns. This may be because more people are traveling out of the country to places where bed bugs are a problem. It may also be because certain pesticides for bed bug infestations have been banned.

Bed bugs usually get into your home through luggage, clothing, or other personal items during travel. Sometimes hotels have bed bugs. Bed bugs can crawl into your luggage and get carried back to your home. It only takes one bed bug to get an infestation started in your home.

Bed bugs may also get into your house by crawling onto your clothes, but this is not likely. A more common way to bring bed bugs into your home is if you buy and wear used clothes or used furniture that have bed bugs in them.

Yes, you should look closely at used furniture before you bring it home.

Check apartments and dorm rooms. Living in close quarters can make it easier to get bed bugs. They often live in the spaces between walls. If an apartment next to yours has bed bugs, you might also have them. It is hard to fix bed bug problems until all apartments within the building have taken steps to get rid of them.

Check vacant apartments for bed bugs before moving in. Bed bugs can survive for months without feeding.

Signs of bed bug infestation may be:

Bed bugs are not known to transmit any infectious diseases. Their bite looks like the bite of most blood-sucking insects and may cause some skin irritation. Some bites might not be noticed, while others turn into larger sores.

Wash the area of the bite with an antiseptic soapto reduce infection, and resist the urge to scratch. Contact your health provider if the bite becomes infected.

If you see the signs of bed bug infestation, you should look closely in all areas of your home to find out if you have bed bugs.

In most cases, a landlord or property manager is required by law to maintain the dwelling they own without insect infestation (MA: 105 CMR 410.550). It is the landlords responsibility to respond to any complaints of bed bugs.

If someone is renting a single-family home, the owner is not responsible for extermination as long as they maintain upkeep of home. In these cases the occupant is required to pay.

If you are a tenant, contact your landlord so that they can hire a licensed exterminator to identify the insect and develop an extermination plan or IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Plan to eliminate them.

Encourage tenants to report bed bugs. Respond quickly to complaints with inspection and intervention.
