Lesniak asks: Will the pipeline of jobs moving from Brooklyn to NJ be reopened? – ROI-NJ.com

October 17th, 2019 by admin

File photo

Former New Jersey state Sen. Raymond Lesniak sponsored all of New Jerseys tax incentives legislation.

Over the past five years, four Brooklyn-based companies have relocated to New Jersey, but, with the expiration of our tax incentives, that pipeline has been shut down. Will it be reopened by Gov. (Phil) Murphy and the Legislature? asks former New Jersey Sen. Raymond Lesniak, father of New Jerseys tax incentives program.

Most recently, Mesorah Publications Inc., the largest Jewish publishing company in the world, moved its operations and 100 employees with an average yearly wage of $50,000 and health benefits from Brooklyn to Rahway.

Lesniak applauded Mesorah Publications Inc. for moving its operations to New Jersey.

Since many of its current employees will be staying with their families in Brooklyn, the city of Rahway and Mesorah will be holding a jobs fair for local residents to fill the jobs. Additional space in the building is being leased to other employers, which will boost the jobs at the site to 200 employees. With the assistance of our tax incentives, the company invested $30 million purchasing and renovating the vacant 256,000-square-foot building in Rahway, Lesniak stated.

There is no doubt the Grow NJ award was the critical factor in Mesorahs decision to move from Brooklyn to New Jersey after considering locations in Staten Island and Westchester County, New York, said Lee Winter of WRE Consulting, which advised Mesorah.

Mesorah President Gedaliah Zlotowitz said: We are grateful that, because of the Grow NJ program, we had the opportunity to move our business to Rahway. We are looking forward to having a positive impact on the local economy and to bring manufacturing jobs to New Jersey.

Rahway Mayor Raymond Giacobbi Jr. said: The city of Rahway is thrilled to welcome Mesorah to our business community. The influx of jobs is significant for us and Mesorahs extensive renovations for its own use and for additional tenants will bring new life to a quarter-million square feet of industrial space that has been vacant for years. This move is an example of the positive, real-world impact that the tax incentives championed by former Sen. Lesniak are having on our local communities.

Lesniak added, Mesorahs story is but one of the 252 development projects created by New Jerseys tax incentives which have attracted $4.5 billion of private capital investment and 30,000 new jobs, retained 30,000 jobs, created tens of thousands of Building Trades jobs and brought huge revenue growth for the state that is at the bottom of states being business friendly.

The Mesorah story is not alone. AP&G, a manufacturer of pest control products, moved from Brooklyn to Bayonne as a result of our tax incentives.

Moving to Bayonne from Brooklyn wasnt easy. My grandfather, Moses Frisch, founded AP&G in Brooklyn in 1952. But it was necessary to accommodate our steady sales growth and ever-expanding family of Catchmaster solutions, said Jonathan Frisch, AP&Gs vice president of sales and marketing.

Also, Geri-Care Pharmaceuticals Corp. has moved its Brooklyn facility with 130 employees to Lakewood. AndUS Mobile, a rapidly growing global wholesale consumer electronics distributor and remarketer, relocated 200 jobs from Brooklyn to Elizabeth as a result of our tax incentives, Lesniak noted.

Brooklyns loss has been our gain, added Lesniak. New Jerseys tax incentives have been a boon for jobs for our residents and revenue for our state.

Lesniak warned, however: Since our incentives have been subject only to criticism, without mentioning success stories like the four Brooklyn companies choosing to move to New Jersey because of our tax incentives, New Jersey locations are now at the back of the line. We need to get a new tax incentive program signed into law quickly to have a chance at regaining opportunities to grow our economy.

Former New Jersey state Sen. Raymond Lesniak sponsored all of New Jerseys tax incentives legislation. He retired from the state Senate in 2018 after serving 40 years in the Legislature.

I have bed bugs in my apartment. How do I get rid of them?

If you have a bed bug problem, first report it to your landlord. Detailed information on what to do about eliminating them and to file a complaint with the City can be found in NYC Dept of Health's Bedbug Basics. Bedbug Registry also has comprehensive information on bed bugs.

I have mice/roaches in my apartment. What should I do?

By law, your landlord must keep your apartment unit and building in safe and sanitary condition and conduct needed repairs in a timely manner. The City will issue violations to owners who do not properly maintain the property. You also have a responsibility to notify your landlord of conditions. You should document all contact with your landlord. In addition to filing a complaint with the City, you may seek assistance in Housing Court. Here are suggested steps:

Can my landlord demand I be present to let an exterminator in even if it means taking a day off from work?

So long as the landlord has provided reasonable notice and seeks access at reasonable times he or she probably could require you or someone you designate to be at the apartment to let the exterminator in. It is best to contact the landlord and try to arrange access at a mutually convenient time. If this fails, try and get someone you trust to allow the exterminator in and to monitor the work.

Is my landlord required to exterminate on a regular basis?

According to the City of New York's Housing Maintenance Code (HMC), eradication of rodents or other pests means elimination through the use of traps, poisons, fumigation or any other method of extermination. The HMC states that an owner is required to keep premises free of rodents, and when the premises are subject to infestation, shall apply "continuous eradication measures."

When the department charged with enforcement, in this case the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) determines that any premises are infested by rodents, it may order "such eradication measures as the department deems necessary." To file a complaint, contact HPD.

I am dreading the winter in my cold apartment - what can I do to get adequate heat and hot water?

By law, building owners must provide all tenants with the following levels of heat (during the heating season, October 1 through May 31):

Between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., heat must register at least 68F when the outside temperature falls below 55F;

Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., heat must register at least 62F.

In addition, hot water must be provided 365 days per year at a constant minimum temperature of 120F.

More information can be found at Heat and Hot Water.

Tenants in New York City with heat and/or hot water problems may file a complaint by dialing 311 or file online.

In addition, rent stabilized and rent controlled tenants can file a complaint with the New York State Homes and Community Renewal if the landlord is violating the above rules. For more details, see HCR Fact Sheet #15: Heat and Hot Water.

If you find that the landlord is in fact meeting the heating standards but it still feels cold to you, you might talk with the landlord about repairing windows or other openings that are allowing drafts to enter the apartment. Sometimes some caulking, tape or insulation around windows and A/C units will provide tremendous heat saving benefits.

I didn't have heat or hot water for several days - do I have any recourse?

There are various ways to deal with this situation:

There's too much heat in my apartment - what can I do?

The first thing you should do is to write a letter to your landlord. Send it via certified mail. If the building is overly hot, it is the landlord's money going up the chimney, out the window, etc. The landlord may not even know that the building is too hot. If s/he does know perhaps s/he will hire someone to fix the problem and save himself some money.

If this doesn't work and you have steam heat, as many Manhattan buildings do, it may be possible to put in radiator valves with smaller holes, which let out less steam & heat. It is also possible to buy adjustable valves which limit the heat. Ask your super to buy and install these valves.

Sometimes just shutting off radiator valves will help. You should ask your super about this.

Of course, it is easy to say "open the windows" but this is not an appropriate long term solution and on cold days this could result in dramatic temperature fluctuations.

Can I get my apartment tested for lead paint?

If you have small children and believe that peeling paint or paint dust may contain lead (as it may if the apartment was built before the early 1960's), you can call the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development or the NYC Department of Health and ask them to send out an inspector. They will examine your apartment and may test for dangerous lead levels.

For more information on lead paint and its hazards, and what you can do to protect your family, see Lead Paint Resources. To report violations, contact the NYC Dept. of Health at Lead Poisoning Prevention.

Are NYC landlords required to provide smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors? How much can I be charged for them?

The NYC Housing Maintenance Code requires landlords to provide and install smoke detecting devices in each apartment unit. All smoke detectors must now use a non-removable, non-replaceable battery that powers the alarm for a minimum of 10 years, and shall be of the type that emits an audible notification at the expiration of the useful life of the alarm. The owner may charge the tenant up to $25 per smoke detector (or $50 for a combined smoke/carbon monoxide detector).

Landlords are also required to provide and install at least one approved carbon monoxide alarm within each dwelling unit. The landlord may charge the tenant $25 per carbon monoxide alarm (or $50 for a combined smoke/carbon monoxide detector) but only when the smoke alarm needs to be replaced, i.e. it is missing or inoperable. More details at NYC Dept. of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD).

The water in my apartment seems contaminated - what can I do?

My building looks like it's about to collapse - who can help?

You should evacuate the building and contact the NYC Dept. of Buildings immediately by dialing 311. If the Buildings Department needs to be notified the Complaint Bureau will advise you accordingly. If the building is structurally unsound, the City may place a vacate order resulting in a temporary or permanent relocation of the tenants. If your building is vacated, you should contact NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the state agency which administers the rent laws, to ensure that you reserve your right to return once the building is repaired or to obtain a relocation stipend if one is available. This may involve payment of one dollar per month to preserve your tenancy.

I have a noisy neighbor living upstairs - What can I do?

Noise problems are nearly always very difficult to deal with. Tenants have different tolerances for noise and landlords generally want to avoid tenant-tenant disputes over noise. It is always best to try and work it out informally with the tenant first, if possible. See NYC's Noise Page.

Chronic disruptive noise may constitute a legal nuisance for which court proceedings are available. For this, we suggest work with others in your building and consider getting Legal Assistance.

You may want to consider mediation, where a neutral third party hears both sides of a disagreement and helps develop solutions that meet everybody's needs. The following Community Mediation Centers provide free mediation services:

Is my upstairs neighbor required to carpet his/her floor to reduce the noise from his/her foot-stomping?

There is no regulation governing carpeting. However, many leases include a clause requiring the tenant to cover a certain percentage (usually around 80%) of the floor space with a rug or carpet. You may want to read your lease for this provision. If it is contained in your lease, it is very likely that it is in the leases of other tenants in your building.

In addition, under a provision of state law called the "Warranty of Habitability," tenants are entitled to an apartment fit for human habitation without any conditions endangering or detrimental to their life, health, or safety. While there are no specific regulations concerning when noise can be made, leases sometimes contain clauses concerning this.

In any case, you may want to follow the steps listed in our Repairs & Maintenance Frequently Asked Questions page in dealing with issues with your landlord, who is ultimately responsible for your right to peacefully enjoy your apartment.

My view is being blocked by new construction - what can I do?

You may not be able to do much, but here are some things to consider:

The construction company should be adhering to their building permit. The permit specifies the hours that work can take place and other details. To find out more, contact the NYC Dept. of Buildings. If the company is not adhering to the terms of the building permit, you can file a complaint.

If you have a problem with the noise, see NYC's Noise Page.

In some instances, if a rent stabilized building suffers from neglect or services are removed (e.g., the tenant loses use of a balcony or window), the tenants in the building (or an individual tenant) can file a "reduction in services" complaint with NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the state agency which administers the rent laws. If the HCR finds that a reduction in services has occurred, they can order appropriate rent reductions. It is unlikely that the loss of a view from the balcony will result in such an order, however, so long as light and air have not been entirely cut off. For information on filing a reduction in services complaint, see HCR Fact Sheet #14: Rent Reduction for Decreased Services.

Can my landlord relocate all the stabilized tenants to the upper floors of the building?

Generally, the answer is no. You are entitled to a renewal lease for your original apartment. There may be exceptions, however. First, tenants may move by voluntary mutual agreement with the landlord. Second, if the landlord seeks the lower floors for the personal use of his or her family, and the tenants being displaced are over 62 or disabled, the landlord may offer an apartment on the upper floors as alternatives (assuming it is an elevator building). Finally, if hazardous condition exists and the lower floors must be vacated by order of a City agency, the landlord may offer other apartments as temporary relocation. You should consider getting Legal Assistance to ensure you maintain rent stabilization status if you move to a different apartment. For more information, contact NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the state agency which administers the rent laws.

Can a management company force me to have a visual inspection or to provide access for repairs in my apartment?

According to the City's multiple dwelling rules, it is unlawful for a tenant to refuse to permit an owner or the owner's agent to enter the apartment for the purpose of making repairs or to assess whether the apartment is in compliance with the law. Reasonable notice is required. At least 24 hours notice is required before an inspection and one week's notice is required to before repairs. Such notice must be in writing, stating the nature of the repairs or improvement to be made. Access may only be scheduled during business hours on weekdays. In case of emergencies such as cascading water leaks or gas leaks or collapsing ceilings, no prior written notice is required for access. Access may be further authorized under provisions of your lease.

We advise that you check your lease first. Usually such matters can be worked out at the mutual convenience of the parties.

We are without cooking gas due to a faulty burner - how can I file a complaint?

A rent stabilized tenant who experiences a decrease in service in an individual apartment should first contact the owner. If that does not resolve the problem, the tenant may file an "Application for a Rent Reduction Based Upon Decreases Service(s) Individual Apartment" (HCR Form RA-81). For complaints involving a decrease in building-wide services, still uncorrected after a tenant contacted the owner, a tenant or tenant representative may file an "Application for a Rent Reduction Based Upon Decreased Building-Wide Service(s)" (DHCR Form RA-84). Both forms are available on the HCR website.

Alternately, you can file an individual apartment complaint of decreased services online.

For additional steps to take when facing maintenance problems, see our Repairs & Maintenance Frequently Asked Questions page

For additional information, see HCR Fact Sheet #14: Rent Reduction for Decreased Services.

If you need further assistance, contact NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR).

What can I do about mold?

Find out about what you can do about mold at NYC's Mold webpage.

Is there a legal amount of electrical input I am entitled to have in my apartment?

Your landlord is required to provide sufficient electricity for all items or services listed in your lease and to maintain a safe and habitable apartment. For example, if your lease states that the apartment is provided with an air conditioner, your landlord must provide enough power to run it.

If there is an exposed plate or wiring, constant blowing of fuses or evidence of electrical fires or a decrease in the amount of power provided to your apartment, you may wish to call HPD Code Enforcement for an inspection.

For more information or to request an inspection, visit NYC's Electrical Complaints or Power Outage page.

My landlord changed the wiring and now I have less wattage - what should I do?

This recent change by the landlord may constitute a "reduction in services." If the landlord refuses to negotiate and improve your access to electricity, you should contact NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the state agency which administers the rent laws.

For more information, see HCR Fact Sheet #14: Rent Reduction for Decreased Services.

Does the loss of my terrace constitute a decrease in services?

It may depend upon whether the terrace is considered part of your housing accommodation. If it is physically configured to serve only your apartment or if it is provided for in your lease you may claim a service reduction. Other circumstances are less clear - such as shared terraces. A rent stabilized tenant can file an "Application for a Rent Reduction Based Upon Decreases Service(s) Individual Apartment" (HCR Form RA-81) for decreased services in an individual apartment. The form is available on the HCR website . Alternately, you can file an individual apartment complaint of decreased services online. To obtain a rent reduction based on service reduction, a tenant must specifically request a rent reduction. HCR will send a copy of your complaint to the owner/co-op board who/which will be required to address the complaint.

For more information on how to proceed, see HCR Fact Sheet #14: Rent Reduction for Decreased Services.

Can my landlord rent rooms like hotel rooms or a bed & breakfast?

No. Operating a rent stabilized apartment like a hotel or bed and breakfast on a daily or weekly basis may be a violation of the rent laws, and probably violates several other laws. First, charging more rent than the amount prescribed by law is illegal. Second, occupants are entitled to one- or two-year leases and imposing leases for a shorter period is unlawful. Third, no owner may impose conditions such as forcing a prospective tenant to agree that the apartment will not be occupied as his or her primary residence, in connection with leasing space. Finally, building, health and zoning codes along with consumer protection regulations may restrict or regulate the conditions under which daily rentals and meals are provided. You may file a complaint and get more information online.

Note, however, that there is an entire class of stabilized dwellings that are located in hotels, single room occupancy buildings and lodging houses. Rents for these accommodations may be charged on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Nonetheless, tenants are afforded all of the protections of rent stabilization - and they may even demand a lease.

If you have any further questions, you may contact NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the agency which administers the rent regulation.

Bed Bug Exterminator

Bed bugs are small in size, yet detrimental to any home or business. They are sneaky, hard to find parasites that can pose health risks to your family. Detecting a bed bug infestation can be extremely difficult to the untrained eye. Even if discovered, over-the-counter remedies are often ineffective. These pests multiply quickly, with females laying up to 5 eggs per day. Under normal room temperatures and sufficient food supply a few bed bugs can turn into a full-blown infestation of over 10,000 pests within a few months of the first signs. Call a professional bed bug exterminator from Richmond Pest Control to exterminate, remove and/or prevent infestations.

The very first thing our expert bed bug exterminator will do is perform a thorough investigation of your home or business to find the infested area(s). Afterwards, well determine which of our bed bug extermination services is the best method to kill the infestation. We offer 2 different, both highly effective, bed bug extermination methods:

Steam Vapor: It is well-known that bed bugs are very fragile pests and cannot survive at high pressure or high temperature. Richmond Pest Controls steam vapor method is one of the most effective for active infestations. The heat kills bed bugs on contact, while the steam simultaneously kills their eggs.

Chemical Treatment: Chemical treatments eliminate bed bugs in all stages of their development. It is applied to all areas such as baseboards, floorboards, walls and any other surface our exterminators find necessary. Our powerful chemical eliminates existing bed bugs, as well as leaves a protection barrier for future infestations.

We utilize the Integrated Pest Management method, or IPM. The IPM method first identifies the pest to be eliminated to ensure only necessary actions are taken. Secondly, the affected areas are inspected for conditions that may be causing an infestation. This allows us to not only eliminate the infestation, but set you up with a plan to prevent another one in the future. Lastly, an effective and comprehensive course of action is determined. All treatment options are fully explained to you, the client, before implementation. A thorough understanding of the process and necessary steps after extermination guarantees a safe and effective treatment.

Holiday Inn Express Staten Island West – 65 Photos & 27 …

This hotel is certainly not fancy but it was adequate for what we needed for the night. The best thing about it was the service I received over the phone from Wilson Zhang(and Stephen when we checked in late). I was concerned after reading some bad reviews and I told Wilson that. He admitted that the lobby was under renovation and did not look nice. He was right. But to assure me that the rooms were fine he took the time AFTER his shift to take photos of my reserved rooms and sent them to me. He answered all my questions without any defensiveness. He truly wanted me to be satisfied. Our stay was fine. The hotel definitely needs renovation but Wilson told me that new management had only taken over a year ago and things were in process. We all slept fine but the mattresses were just ok and should be upgraded. The room could have used a much better dusting. Once a week I believe a hotel should do a deep cleaning and dusting of their rooms. Had to check out early so we didn't have breakfast but they did have good coffee in urns 24/7. We were thankful to find a hotel for a comfortable and safe night on Staten Island. Good service means a lot!

Cockroaches, staff tying up the only elevator at rush hour to eat breakfast burritos, had to carry luggage down five flights of stairs because of it. When I reported the cockroaches, staff and management suggested that I brought them in!!!!!!250+ nights this year in Marriott and Hilton all over the world and never had such a terrible experience. STAY FAR AWAY from this piece of trash built on a literal island of trash!!!!!

This hotel is very run down and dirty. The furniture is dirty. The lobby is under construction. The hotel is on a freeway. There is insufficient parking. The room smells. I regularly stay at Holiday Inn Expresses and understand what they are like. This is not a Holiday Inn Express, it is a run down and tiny old style Holiday Inn.The only reason I am giving it two stars is that the staff is very helpful and friendly.I highly recommend that you stay somewhere else.

The smell was so bad I checked in and checked out within five minutes thank you for the chocolates and water bottles. My throat was burning from the mold spores.

For those of you looking to travel to NY/Staten Island you need to read this. I had to travel to Staten Island for a family emergency. The hotel choices on the Island were limited, so it was this or go back to NJ.But here's the catch, for those of you who have never been on the island. NY taxes on hotels drove up the price of my room another $40. This is oddly convenient for them because gas + tolls the get back and forth to NJ are equally expensive. Yes, to cross a bridge and back it cost me $30 plus gas. Due to flights being re-routed at a local airport, all of the advertised rooms and prices were additionally priced. So it was $165 instead of the advertised $119. My towels had brown spots on them, the room was shoddily cleaned, and the walls were not very soundproof. However what really took the cake was the breakfast. I travel a lot, and I've stayed in a variety of rooms and different brands hotels (20+ in the last few years) from Hilton to Super 8. This was the first hotel that charges you a separate fee for each item you get for breakfast. I'm absolutely floored that after jacking up the price of my room $85 between the airport and taxes and having a dirty room, they'd want to charge me per entree for breakfast. If you can avoid this hotel, please do, but you might not have a choice. They only have 10-15 hotels on the whole island.

Needed to stay the night due to a death in the family. Used to live on the island and knew our options were limited. Checked the others and this was the only option. Parking lot was packed. Semi shady characters moseying around the lot and lobby. Hotel comes off as new but it seems to have aged fairly quickly. Was greeted by a friendly desk person named Cathryn. She sent us to our room. Room was small and dated. The room did the job but we were pretty much forced to stay there due to circumstances, so we dealed with it.

After a long day of burying my father I come back to my hotel with the wife and kids to get much needed rest physically and mentally however that idea was quickly destroyed when I pulled the sheets to our beds back! The bed was made from the maid service but either they used the same sheets or they do not wash the sheets because their were hairs and stains all over the sheets and comforter on mine and my kids beds! This is a disgusting hotel who doesn't change or wash the sheets! I was suppose to check out Tuesday but I'm gone tomorrow! Even when we went to the front to get sheets they only dropped them off and my wife and son had to make the beds! These pics are all different stains and hair follicles I found! And trash in the corner in the bathroom shows they don't really clean!

The worst hotel ever. Stay away ! Bed bugs , nasty , rude employees , rooms have foul odor . The general manager is an asshole. Far away in the middle of nowhere. Very nasty place . Spend your money somewhere else. You have been warned . Take heed.

The staff is friendly. Breakfast bar is good. The rooms could use touch ups. We checked in and changed rooms 3 times due to the rooms being dirty. During our stay others guest have complained about their rooms not being clean. And the shortage of fresh linens. Skip on the free breakfast and stay next door to the other holiday inn the rooms are always clean and a lot bigger.

I've stayed at the holiday inn express and always loved it. There's a girl who always works at the front desk, I don't know if she's a manager but her name is Carissa, she's so sweet and so helpful. However, tonight I had a front desk agent who was absolutely disgustingly rude. I walked in on a Monday night asked if he has a room available for me and my husband and with no exaggeration, was told, "maybe try next door" he was on the computer for under a minute and looked at me with such disgust. Me and my husband like to occasionally get away from the kids and stay at a hotel convenient to us. I didn't believe him and told him to double check and he rolled his eyes. We decided to leave and check the hotel website on our phone, turns out they had 5 rooms available... hate to say it but me and my husband are an interracial couple, wonder if that had something to do with it. Regardless, hope this desk agent has some type of repercussions.

We came back Staten Island from N Carolina for r days to visit friends and family. My husband has MS and when he gets the slightest fever he becomes paralyzed and can't move. So here we were, over 500 miles from home and he can't even get up to use the bathroom. The worst part was that his parents, who are in their late 80's, had been so looking forward to seeing their son. The staff was wonderful. They found a wheelchair for him at the Holiday Inn next door. I was afraid we would have to stay an extra night, and the NYC MARATHON was scheduled. Nicole made sure we would have a room. Dianna, who is in charge of the kitchen, held me and comforted me because I was so upset. She let us use the dining room so his family could come and see him. We ordered in. Joseph got the wheelchair and brought it to our room. Maria, the manager, was also very supportive. Is it luxurious? No, but it's clean. My only beef is that there was nowhere in the bathroom for toiletries. In fact, there was nowhere to put anything down. There wasn't even a toilet lid to close so you could put your toiletry bag on. This might have been because we were in a handicapped accessible room, but even mobility challenged people need somewhere to put toiletries. But every single employee we dealt with couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. 10 stars for customer service!

This hotel is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. My boyfriend and I have been staying in a couple hotels as we wait to move into our new place. Thankfully it won't be much longer! The first couple times we stayed here it was manageable. But last night was the last time. I'll sleep in the truck before going back to this hotel. The hair dryer had dust flying out of it, the towels smelled and were dusty and stained from sitting on rusty metal racks, the furniture was dusty, the fridge looked like it was beaten with a hammer, and we were next to the electrical unit. (Room 213) the entrance of the hotel is nice and clean, but the rooms are not. The walls are stained too. I know I sound prissy, but I don't care. This hotel needs a good scrubbing! Never eaten here either, you couldn't pay me to eat off anything in this place. But I guess, you get what you pay for.

This hotel is alright, the room was incredibly small...no fridge and I had to go downstairs to use microwave. Customer service was great but I would've liked the shuttle to be available at all times. It's really great that the shuttle to Staten Island ferry was free but the one of the shuttle drivers was an a-hole! I guess it's NYC attitude for ya. I love that there's free breakfast but it's only until 10am. It'd be great if it was extended til 12noon. Overall it's alright. If it wasn't for the front desk customer service I woulda rated this hotel a 1.

Wow this place in staying for a week and im already really uncomfortable here. Walked in my so called cleaned room with a beer bottle at the window and a bag of nuts beside them??? Also my lock on my door(keycard lock) didnt even work you could just walk on in on me singing katy perry in the shower and steal my expensive equipment. Called the "maintenance" guy Lee and he literally hit it with a screwdriver while taking snapchat selfies for 21 minutes until standing up and telling me that it isnt working. Then just left the room for me with no lock.! Good job guys im really proud 🙂

I just stayed here for a couple days ,staff is not super friendly. The hotel is rather new and clean however they did not clean my room in between days when I raised the issue (9pm) after coming back from an all day adventure in Manhattan , the young lady at the front desk told me there was a mix up with my reservation but did nothing to clean my room or givee a new one with clean towels and linens. Also I did find some ants when I was leaving (Argentine ants) I did let the staff know but once again nothing was done about it.

Okay, the rooms aren't huge and the elevator is small and slow. So maybe it isn't as good as it gets. Probably not, if you pay full price. But our room was clean and comfortable, at least until the illegal cigarette smoke from the guy in the next room started filtering in. But the hotel staff moved us immediately to another floor, and what more could they do? We found only friendly people in all positions at the hotel. The shuttle was ready and waiting for us when we got off the ferry. The breakfast was decent and Kathleen, the attendant, even cooked my bacon to extra crispy on request. I left some expensive items in the room when I left and they were turned in. All I need to do is send a shipping label and they will be returned to me.It's New York. If you want to pay a few hundred dollars more, you can do better. But I'd rather stay here. Don't eat at the Holiday Inn next door unless you really don't have the energy to go elsewhere.

probably the worst hotel i've ever stayed at. i am on my school field trip. night before we stayed at a great hotel the marriott, as soon as we walk in here it's a SHITSHOW. first they messed up all the rooms, it smells like weed and smoke, the lobby is a jail cell, and there's one SLOW AS FREAKEN MOLASSES elevator. i get to my room and it's so unclean. like probably hasn't been deep cleaned in months. there is dust EVERYWHERE and this caused me to become sick. mold in the showers, horrible. ( some other complaints from kids were, skid marks, jizz on the bed, blood, used pads all over, chair broken, pills in ice bucket, spider eggs in AC etc. we immediately can't take it. we ask that if we have to sleep here can we at least sleep with other girls so we did. (the teachers even knew it was bad) no one cared what we did at this point. so we went to other people's room (keep in mind kids have suites over in holiday inn who got switched) we had to bring in a cot they had us set up and took an hour to get there. we pull over the bed there's maggots and wrappers. security guard was smoking and drinking outside our room. at 12 o clock people were being loud in hall. another persons frame broke on them so glass everywhere. moldy chocolate covered strawberries. bugs all over a spider in people's hair. i can't even explain how horrible it was and so much more happened. like how they forgot to clean our room and stuff. all ik is this place sucks so welcome to ur tape and thanks for ruining my 8th grade trip i paid 1,000 dollars for !!! (wouldn't even give this one star)

I would of gave this hotel 5 stars but the rooms are really small. Other than the smallRooms.... This hotel is very clean. The staff is so nice. The lady in the breakfast bar was so nice and showed a lot of care to my soN who is 3. Holly who checked us in was so sweet and nice and made sure we were happy. The hotel didn't come with a mini fridge but you can ask for one and it's free of charge. The housekeeping girl was so nice and made sure we had everything and showed my son a lot of love also. Stephen in the breakfast bar was very pleasant. Made my son pancakes and gave him a lollipop and a balloon.

5 stars ONLY for Stephen who works in pantry and serves breakfast . He is ' old' but so energetic you actually feel fresh and ready for the day. Very well mannered and greets everyone! And Ofcourse cinnamon rolls are amazing. You would wish your day always started like that.He should be given the employee of the month award 🙂

Wow, I'm surprised also by the other reviews. My stay may as well have been at a totally different hotel. Overall, I was very pleased. Too many cons to give it a five, though.Pros: Squeaky clean, fairly spacious rooms, staff super-friendly, great complimentary breakfast....and did I mention squeaky clean? (So important to me....)Cons: FAR away from NYC, shuttle does NOT run consistently, staff, while very friendly, were not always knowledgeable about hotel policies and procedures or area information (I often got more than one incorrect answer to the same inquiry); and only one decent place to eat within walking distance (but man, was it worth the half-mile walk!)Now that I've been there and I know how things run, I might consider staying there again, if I'm trying to save the money. For less than $120 a night, it's a great deal, especially with a family in tow.If you stay here, eat at the West Shore Inn. Fantastic!

Richmond Pest Control – Pest Exterminator – Staten Island, NY

January 10th, 2019 by admin

Each type of pest extermination is treated differently and utilizes industry-standard, safe and effective methods. For instance, for rodents and large wildlife animals we humanely bait & trap the pests, then relocate them to a more conducive environment. Several different methods are used for insects ranging from poisoned bait to fumigation.

For termite extermination and prevention our technicians utilize 3 basic treatment methods: Soil Treatment, Wood Treatment and Bait Systems. Soil-based termite treatment acts as a barrier to kill off any existing termites, as well as prevent any new ones from entering your home through the subterranean. Wood treatments include surface sprays, injected sprays, foams and installing Borate treated wood; surface applications are used during the construction phase and injections/foams are used in already built homes. Bait termite treatment will destroy entire colonies. Our professionals will install bait stations around the perimeter of your foundation luring the termites out of your home and into the trap, which will be checked frequently then removed.

For bed bugs, Richmond Pest Control utilizes 2 extermination and treatment methods: Steam Vapor and Chemical Treatment. Throughout our years in the industry, we have found these to be the most effective measures to removing, treating and preventing further bed bug problems in your home, office or business.

If you have any of the above pest infestation concerns contact Richmond Pest Controls pest exterminator company at our office location in Staten Island, New York by calling 718-667-5200.
