An annual ranking of the best Canadian bed bug cities has been released and Vancouver has fought its way to third place.

An annual ranking of the best Canadian bed bug cities has been released and Vancouver has fought its way to third place.

On the 2019 list published by Orkin Canada, Vancouver is only ahead of Toronto and second before Winnipeg. St. Johns follows in fourth place and Ottawa in fifth.
The only other B.C. The city that made it into the top 25 is Burnaby, which started at 19.
As in previous years rankings, larger cities and hotspots were high on the list, and bed bugs were reported in both clean and dirty houses and office buildings. According to pest control experts, bed bugs were a rarely experienced irritant 20 years ago, but have since become a common problem in urban centers.
Signs of bed bug infestation are tiny, dark spots or stains or cast skins. The creatures can often be seen in and around mattress tags or in seams, under seat cushions, behind headboards, furniture creases, wallpaper and carpets.
The ranking is based on the number of commercial and private bed bug treatments performed by the company between January 1 and December 31, 2019.

When traveling, do not put clothes or luggage on the bed so that the insects, if any, can climb inside.
Use metal luggage racks to keep suitcases away from carpets and walls or wooden furniture. (The beetles dont climb very well on metal surfaces.)
Use plastic bags to pack clothing. This prevents bed bugs from spreading if they hinder a trip in your suitcase.
It is rare that bed bugs can thrive not only in hotels, but also on planes and trains, buses or rental cars.
